PADI Assistant Instructor
It’s time to take the first professional step!
The PADI Assistant instructor course is an intermediate step to become an instructor, approximately half of the IDC (instructor development course). With this course you can:
- Present the knowledge development part of any PADI course under the indirect supervision of an instructor
- Present the initial training of the skills under the direct supervision of the instructor during the dives in confined waters.
- Direct assessments of surface skills in open water during the dives of the Open Water Diver course under the indirect supervision of the instructor.
- Certify divers in specialties that do not require dives
- Direct certain programs such as: DSD in confined waters, PADI Seal Team, Bubblemaker, Project Aware programs, etc.
Previous IDC Requirements
1. PADI Divemaster, or leadership level of another training organization
2. 18 years old
3. 60 logged dives; documented experience in night diving, deep diving and underwater navigation.
4. If it were not PADI Divemaster, you must successfully complete the dive rescue assessment of the PADI Divemaster course.
5. Certified diver for at least six months.
6. Medical certification accrediting the fitness for diving signed by a medical doctor within the last 12 months.
7. Completion of the Emergency First Response Primary and Secondary Care course (or equivalent training) within the last 24 months.
Certification Requirements
- Complete the theoretical classes
- Approve 2 academic presentations
- Approve 2 presentations of confined waters
- Approve 1 open water presentation
- Approve the demonstration of 24 exercises
- Pass the PADI system standards test
- Pass the theory exams (physics, physiology, equipment, environment and tables)

Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
